There will be two speakers tonight, Mr. Richard K. Grace of Renesas Electronics America representing NEC LCD Technologies and Mr. Tom Gattinella representing Sharp. NEC will present their super reflective technology known as SR-NLT where for direct sunlight applications, you can turn off the backlight saving power with its obvious advantages. They offer a choice of 2.7" - 4.3" and 6.5" - 15" sizes, with multiple viewing characteristics, resolutions, and image optics. Mr. Grace has worked for NEC for 3 years and previously worked for Sharp, Wyle, and Proxima.

Geoff Walker, Marketing Evangelist and Industry Guru at NextWindow will present "LCD In-Cell Touch Screens Technology". This survey, completed in January 2010, will give the details of light sensing, voltage sensing, and charge sensing in-cell touch. How each technology works, who is working on it, advantages, disadvantages, and products in the market or coming to the market are all explained. The one-hour talk concludes with a comparison of the technologies, a market forecast, and a prediction of the overall impact of in-cell touch technologies. Geoff is a mobile-computing industry pioneer, starting at GRiD Systems in 1982. Geoff has served at Fujitsu, Handspring, Walker Mobile (his own company), Elo Touch Systems, and currently at NextWindow, the leading supplier of optical touchscreens. The meeting will be at the Hacienda Hotel, 525 N. Sepulveda, El Segundo, CA, 90245 - 310-615-0015. Parking is immediately north of the Hotel in the lot behind the gas station. We will get a validation stamp for a $3 fee. The date again is March 25th , 2010 and the time is 6:00 PM. Social Hour will start at 6 PM and the meal will be set at 6:30 PM and the Meeting will start at 7:30 PM. The subsidized cost will be $20 for members, $25 for guests, and free for the first 5 UCLA Student Branch Members who must reserve a place. The meal will feature a cup of Hot Soup du Jour, Salad, Relish Tray, Fruit Platter, Cold Cuts, Cheeses, Breads, and Brownies and Cookies. There will be Coffee, Decaf, Hot or Iced Tea.
