Unveiling a Super Massive Black Hole at the Center of Our Galaxy

Highlights
Dr. Andrea Ghez, a professor of physics and astronomy at UCLA, has been a member of the faculty since 1994. Working in the Keck Observatory, which houses the largest telescopes in the world, she studies the origin and early life of stars and planets and the super massive black hole at the center of our galaxy.
The recipient of numerous professional accolades, Dr. Ghez has been honored with the American Astronomical Society’s Newton Lacy Pierce Prize and the American Physical Society’s Maria Goeppert-Mayer Award. Elected to both the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, she was selected as a MacArthur Fellow in 2008.
Dr. Ghez holds a PhD from Caltech and a BS from MIT. Previously, she served as a Hubble Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Arizona.

- January 7 thru 10, 2010 - Consumer Electronics Show, Las Vegas. Time is running out for FREE registration for the Exhibits. After October 31st, the charge is $100. On January 2nd, it's $200.
- January, 2010 - SID Chapter Social Meeting, . SID members will present slides of recent trips to exotic and beautiful places.
- February 5, 2010 - Our One-Day Symposium, "Technologies for Custom LCD Display Modules", sponsored by the SID LA Chapter at the Costa Mesa Country Club. Watch for more publicity in the near future.
- March 25, 2010 - SID Chapter Meeting, Subject is Display Highlights of CES.
- April 29, 2010 - SID Chapter Meeting, Subject is Reflective Liquid Crystal Displays. Several major companies will demonstrate products and give presentations.
